About the Project
Grown in Totnes is a small scale grain processing initiative based at the industrial estate in Totnes.
It evolved from the desire to increase the range of locally produced and processed food available for human consumption. Having only two paid part-time employees, the work is highly dependent on volunteers, who bring different backgrounds into the work environment, enriching the project with diverse skills and a lot of humour.
The grains include wheat, spelt, rye and Einkorn as well as peas, all sourced from local organic farms.
After the official launch event in late April the produce such as flour and flaked oats will be available in local shops and used to make delicious sourdough bread.
